Seriously, though, this two-seater starts out at a little over $12,000 for the pure coupe which is exceptional. With 33 MPG city and 44 highway it definitely belongs on a list of 2011 cars with best gas mileage. That said, it only sounds good until examined closely. As with all good-sounding things in life, there are drawbacks. With the Smart Fortwo the drawbacks are considerable. The standard model does not come with air conditioning or power windows. No audio system either. The safety ratings are pretty bad and it only runs on premium fuel. The warranty is for two years or 24,000 miles.
